Description
25th July 2007 SEMINAR - "AVOIDING LIABILITY FOR MSC CONTRACTOR TAX"

Two government consultations "Tackling Managed Service Companies", and "Managed Service Companies Transfer of Pay as You Earn and National Insurance Contributions Debts" introduce legislation. The law affecting MSCs came into effect on 6th April 2007, and elements of the transfer of liabilities legislation is due to have effect from August 2007.

Why the 25th July? Royal Assent is due to be given to the Finance Bill by early July. Until then, given the confusion over some aspects of the law, there is a distinct possibility that the legislation will be revised further. The 25th July would therefore be a suitable date to provide a definitive presentation on the finalised law.

At the meeting of the Public Bill Committee on the 15th May the Financial Secretary to the Treasury gave an undertaking that guidance on the legislation will be produced by HMRC and that HMRC will consult informally with interested parties to ensure the necessary clarity is achieved.

Robin Wythes, representing HMRC, will be giving key input at our seminar and has agreed to provide clarity on any points delegates may have.

Our earlier seminar on this subject was extremely well received and some of the excellent comments can be found on our web site.

Subject: MSC and third party liability legislation, meaning and effect, what is or could be a Managed Service Company, impact, how to deal with the principal issues that arise, IR35 and contract arrangements, options available and how to avoid exposure to contractor tax liability.

Who should attend: The seminar will be important for decision makers and managers of recruitment companies supplying temps and limited company contractors; accountants providing services to contractors; related service providers; contractors.
